Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton has taken full responsibility for what he acknowledged was the wrong decision during the sprint qualifying session at the Singapore Grand Prix.
Throughout the earlier segments, the team's car looked incredibly balanced on medium compound tyres. However, once the grid swapped over to the mandatory soft tyres for the final shootout, the rear of Lewis Hamilton's car completely gave up, resulting in massive oversteer.

While the rest of the grid utilized multiple cooldown laps to properly prepare their temperature-sensitive Pirelli soft tyres, Lewis Hamilton opted to take a gamble. The British driver explicitly requested a completely different tyre preparation sequence, completing only a single cooldown lap.
Lewis Hamilton sits 3 in the drivers' championship standings with 229 points.
