Kimi Antonelli faced a massive pre-race scare and struggled significantly with the handling of his updated machine during the weekend's opening competitive sessions.
Following Mercedes-AMG Petronas's decision to split car specifications for the Singapore Grand Prix weekend, George Russell led the charge by topping the single practice session and securing second place in Sprint Qualifying.
Meanwhile, Kimi Antonelli clearly lacked his teammate's pace and had to settle for seventh position in both sessions. The Italian driver frankly admitted that his version of the upgraded W17 car proved to be very difficult to drive.
Kimi Antonelli currently sits in 1st place of the Drivers' Championship standings with 325 points.
