McLaren team principal Andrea Stella has spoken out about technical difficulties faced by the team, emphasizing that Formula 1 must avoid a repeat of the issues seen at Sepang while accepting occasional technical glitches as part of the sport.
Discussing Lando Norris's performance, Stella stated: „If we look at Lando's race and the fact that he gradually went backwards, there's a few reasons for that. We occasionally saw the same problem during the race, but not as systematic as in Qualifying.“ He added that fuel injection presented a significant area for improvement, an issue occasionally seen on Oscar Piastri's car as well.

Aside from power unit deployment struggles, Lando Norris also experienced some driving inconsistencies, including a lock-up when overtaken by Lewis Hamilton. Stella admitted that some components were lost in crashes, but expressed confidence that replacements would arrive in time for upcoming races.
Commenting on energy management regulations, Stella highlighted that any potential adjustments require careful simulation and detailed analysis. Safety remains the core element of the governing body's mission, and discussions between teams and stakeholders will prioritize these matters during the break.

„It is a case that should be studied with a certain level of analytical approach. I don't think a simple solution exists, but we have the expertise and engineers to put some actions in place,“ Stella concluded.
Oscar Piastri currently sits 7th in the drivers' standings with 128 points, while Lando Norris is 5th with 188 points.
