Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff made no secret of his fury after George Russell suffered yet another costly setback during the race weekend. The Austrian boss admitted the team is far from a happy place following a series of reliability gremlins and operational mistakes.
George Russell was forced to deal with a bizarre technical glitch right at the start of the Bahrain Grand Prix. According to the team boss, the issue occurred when the Briton applied minimal throttle, but the power unit inexplicably revved to maximum before bogging down completely.

This latest drama follows a recurring catalogue of reliability concerns for Mercedes throughout the campaign, including a DNF in Canada and straight-line speed limitations at previous rounds.
"It looks like he gave it about 10% throttle, and the thing revved to the maximum, he went off throttle, and it bogged down," Wolff reflected to the media. "So I am really not happy about the mistakes that are happening, so that was the reason."

Despite the early nightmare, George Russell put in a stellar recovery drive, slicing through traffic with ease and salvaging the absolute maximum amount of points available under the circumstances.
