Max Verstappen has announced his plans to compete in the season finale of the GT World Challenge Europe at Portimao. The Red Bull driver will jump into his Verstappen Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 for the Endurance Cup race, entered via 2 Seas Motorsport.
This decision comes after speculation regarding the line-up, as Jules Gounon and Dani Juncadella decided to skip the event to prioritise their WEC commitments, forcing changes within the squad.

Speaking ahead of the race weekend, Max Verstappen explained his decision to slot in the competitive GT3 event: "Well, I know that two of my drivers won’t be part of the line-up, so two other drivers need to step in, and I’m looking forward to it. It’s going to be a busy seven weeks, but I enjoy it anyway, so yeah, let’s see what we can do there."
The Dutchman's participation also sets up an exciting on-track battle against MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi, who competes for BMW's factory-supported WRT team, bringing two major motorsport icons together.

"Of course, I would have loved to see my normal drivers compete, but the calendar has changed at times. And that's OK," he added. "I love Portimao. I love being in Portugal. So we'll try and have a good weekend."
In the current Formula 1 standings, Max Verstappen sits in 6 position of the drivers' championship with 163 points.
