McLaren driver Oscar Piastri has brushed off any fears of Formula 1 friendship issues stemming from a recent getaway to Langkawi. The trip, organised ahead of the race weekend in Malaysia and shared by Mercedes-AMG Petronas driver George Russell on social media, brought together several drivers for some well-deserved island downtime.
The group featured Lando Norris, Alexander Albon, Oliver Bearman, Carlos Sainz, and Gabriel Bortoleto, who enjoyed activities ranging from local go-karting and waterfall exploration to beach chess.

Addressing potential tensions, Oscar Piastri insisted that such trips do not add unnecessary pressure or strain relationships. Regarding any previous situations involving Lando Norris, the Australian confirmed that a clean slate was established ahead of the Mexico round.
The drivers emphasised that standard racing guidelines remain straightforward and clear, focusing purely on clean wheel-to-wheel combat on the track regardless of off-track friendships.
